HAL SYKES
IRAAN: Hal Sykes, 63 of Iraan, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Iraan with Reverend Mike Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Todd Bausch, Ted Sellers, Salvador Duran, Keith Green, Jimmy Watts, and Jimmy Pickler. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Edwin Franks, Lucile Salazar, Dr. Tim Dannemiller, Brazos Davis, Dr. Robert Garcia, Don Jackson, Dr. Edwin Rathbun, and Leonard Rodriquez.
Hal was born on April 12, 1947 in Springville, Tennessee. He married Diana Davis in Buchannan, Tennessee in 1965. Hal was a truck driver of Garrison Contractors; a member of the Masonic Lodge; and had been a police officer for 15 years; and he also served as a police officer in Kosovo, Yugoslavia from 2003 until 2005. He enjoyed his horses and buggy. He lived in Iraan for 23 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Hal was preceded in death by his father, Bonnie Sykes; and his brother, Lane Sykes.
Hal is survived by his loving wife, Diana D. Sykes of Iraan; two daughters, Patina Gayle Crowder and her husband Dave, and Tammy Lee Alldredge and her husband Travis all of Iraan; his mother, Martha Ozella Hopkins Sykes of Paris, TN; a brother, Phillip Sykes of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Vita Sykes of Murray, Kentucky, and Donna L. Hollaway of Jackson, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Kullin Alldredge, Jim Crowder, and Glenn Crowder, all of Iraan.
