Garl Russell Follis
Crane: Garl Russell Follis, 87, born on July 27, 1923. He lived in Indiana until he was 24 then came to Crane and taught Auto Mechanics at Crane High School from 1966 to 1986.
Garl was married to Doris Follis for 58 years until she passed away on July 19, 2005. Doris had MS so Garl took care of her for all of her life. Garl and Doris had one son, Ned Leon Follis who passed away on February 20, 2006.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Russell and wife, Jennifer Follis of Weatherford; Marcie and husband, John Cole of Waxahachie and Sara and husband, Scott Brinson of Bowie; Daughter-in-law, Brenda Follis of Granbury; cousin, Lynn and wife, Sandy Thompson of Arlington; seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 27, 2010 from 6pm until 8pm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane with Minister Rick Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be his students that Garl taught in Auto Mechanics. They are Bud Taylor, Lupe Tarin, Dale Hawthorn, Manuel Cadena Jr., Cipriano Vargas and Jamie Sanchez.
