Frankie Maynard

Frankie Marie Tidwell Maynard, 89 of Mesquite, TX passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at the Christian Care Center in Mesquite following complications of a recent illness.

She was born in Anson, TX on February 4,1925 to Vernon & Josephine Tidwell. She attended Anson public schools and following graduation enrolled in Abilene Christian College in 1941. In 1943 she dropped out to teach in a small country school near Anson for 3 years.
She married Billy Joe Maynard in 1946 and following his completion of medical school in 1948 they moved to Crane, TX.

In 1951 Dr. Maynard was placed in the Army and he, Frankie and her first son Steve moved to West Germany in 1952. The family returned to Crane in 1953 upon his discharge from the Army, and their second son Tim arrived in December 1953. Frankie resumed her role as wife and mom. She served as a Sunday school teacher, home room mother and player in the community theater.
After the boys left for college, she served as a substitute teacher in the Crane schools. She also loved hand sewing making stuffed bears, hand stitched pictures, and quilts especially for her grand children.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011 and moved to Mesquite to be closer to her family.

Today she is survived by her 2 sons Steve Maynard of Plano, Dr. Tim Maynard and wife B.J. of Gatesville, 4 grand children-Amy Denman, Carissa Cooper and husband Brian, Casey Maynard and wife Jenna, Cody Maynard and wife Crystal, and 8 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Mesquite at the Christian Center on October 18, 2014 and graveside services at Crane County Cemetery will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at 2:00 PM by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
