Favian G. Tovar, 78, a mechanic/oil field machinist and longtime resident of Crane, TX lost his battle with lung cancer on Monday, February 18th. He was born January 20, 1941 in Buena Vista, TX. Favian was a hard worker, working until cancer prevented him to continue. He was a humble man with simple tastes with a generous spirit.
Favian is survived by his former wife, Manuela, with whom he maintained a close and loving relationship. Favian and Manuela had three children, Rachel Tovar of Crane, TX; Jody Tovar and wife Julia of Boerne, TX; and Patrick Tovar and wife Melissa of Marion, TX.; and grandchildren Christopher, Karissa, Cristian, Philip, Alexis, Nathaniel, Aiden, Hannah, and Dallas. He is also survived by his brother Marcos; sister Isabela Gonzalez and husband Carlos; and sister Lydia Vejil.
He is predeceased by his father, Agapito Tovar and his mother, Paz Tovar; brothers Luis Tovar, Felipe Tovar, Simon Tovar, Reymundo Tovar; sisters Pabla Kiser; Elpidia Tovar and Adela Jaquez.
A rosary in memory of Favian will be held on Wednesday, February 20 at 7 pm at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home, 1503 S. Gaston, Crane. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 21 at 2 pm at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 810 S. Virginia St, Crane. Interment will follow at Crane County Cemetery.
