Esperansa âHopieâ Flores, 62, of Sheffield, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, in Odessa.
Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Sheffield. Funeral Mass will be held at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2016, with Father Bernard Getigan officiating.
Esperansa was born on July 7, 1954, in Sheffield where she lived most all of her life. She married Pedro Flores on February 7, 1972, in Sheffield. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Hopie loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, and was known for her tortillas. She loved to sew, and to quilt. Hopie quilted blankets for every one of her siblings first grandchild. She was an avid Iraan Braves fan and supporter. Hopie never met a stranger and everyone was always welcome in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Teresa Ybarra; two daughters, Danielle and Michelle Flores; five brothers, Lionel Ybarra, Robert Ybarra, David Ybarra, Antonio Ybarra, and Daniel Ybarra; and four sisters, Julia Palmer, Cruz Rodriguez, Diana Anguiano, and Antonia Ybarra.
Hopie is survived by her husband, Pedro Flores of Sheffield; two sons, Pete Florez and his wife Carnel of Andrews, and Mark Flores of Sheffield; two daughters, Lidia Sanchez and her husband Armando, and Veronica Resendez and her husband Mario, all of Sheffield; four brothers, Ray Velasquez of Iraan, Richard Ybarra of San Angelo, Armando Ybarra of Ozona, and Manuel Ybarra of Iraan; four sisters, Thema Calzada of Sanderson, Alicia Burton, of Sheffield, Irma Ybarra of Sheffield, and Delia Hernandez of Ozona;
seven grandchildren, Javier Flores, Allison Florez, Sarah Florez, Meghan Sanchez, Abbigail Florez, Armando âTresâ Sanchez, III, and Mireya Resendez; and one great granddaughter, Marina Flores; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
