McCAMEY: Ernesto Gallardo Diaz, 75 of Midland, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at the Hospice of Midland Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, January 18th in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in McCamey. Mass of Christian Burial will held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19th , 2009 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey with Father Laurent officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Mr. Diaz was born on November 8, 1933 in Groesbeck, Texas. He was a Catholic. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margarita Gallardo Diaz in 1945; his father, Jose Diaz in 1975; his daughter, Sonja Diaz on September 16, 1972; and his wife, Mary Sue Diaz on December 6, 2004.
He is survived by three daughters, Deneen Bertadillo of Fort Worth, Hope Lopez and Arlene Diaz both of Lamesa; four sons, Ernest Diaz, Jr. of Anna, TX, Lupe Diaz of Atlanta, GA, John Diaz of Midland, and Wesley Diaz of Houston; six sisters, Martha Molina of Houston, Anita Rodriguez, Hope Marquez, and Elidia Saldana, all of McCamey, Elizabeth Avila of Granado, TX, and Elosia Salas of Odessa; and one brother, Lupe Diaz of Mexia, TX; 15 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
