Elmer Jones

Elmer Ray Jones passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019. He was born on July 13, 1938, in Breckenridge, Texas to Elmer and Bertie Amason Jones.

Elmer was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the Army. He received an Honorable Discharge in February of 1965. Elmer married Charlotte Hogue in Rock Castle, Virginia on October 26, 1963. Then in September of 1965, they moved to McCamey. Elmer worked for the Highway Department for 11 years, then worked for his brother Riley as a pumper. Elmer then began working for the McCamey-Rankin TV Cable until 1984. Elmer was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bertie Jones; sister Wanda Mae Jones; brother Riley J. Jones; and granddaughter, Rachel Marie Arana.

Elmer is survived by his twin sister, Bertie Fay Deubler of Breckenridge; his loving wife, Charlotte Jones; daughters, Patty Jones, Vicky Jolly and husband Wayne, all of McCamey; son, Michael Ray Jones and his wife Jennifer of Lake Dallas, TX; grandsons, Luke Arana of McCamey, and Logan Jones of Lake Dallas; and special friends of the family, Snookie Brown and Debbie White.

Elmer spent the last two years in the McCamey Convalescent Center. Then family would like to thank all the staff at the McCamey Hospital and Convalescent Center for their dedicated care.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home in McCamey on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the First Baptist Church in McCamey officiated by Preacher Ted Creech of the Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Andy Mendoza, Bill Brown, J. J. Ramirez, Dwayne Duncan, Shay Smith, Ulises Pinales, and Dusty Kilgore. Honorary Pallbearers will be George Taylor, Billy Joe Taylor, Marvin King, and Church Davis.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your church, or a charity of your choice in Memory of Elmer Jones.
