Elena "Nena" Garcia

Elena Garcia, 90, a long-time resident of McCamey, Texas passed away on December 2, 2023.

She was born in Adobes, Texas, on July 16, 1933.  She enjoyed cooking for her family.  Taking her grandkids to the “moon” was her way of telling them they were going to the store.  You could find mom playing cards or dominos with her friends.   

Nena was preceded in death by her parents Jose and Elena Granado. Her brothers Jose, Felipe, Apolonio and Manuel.  Her sisters Maria, Juana, Pomposa, Eloisa, Carmen, Delfina and Belsora. 

Nena is survived by her husband Guillermo (Willie) Garcia. Her children Jesus Gomez, Israel Gomez, Cruz, (wife Velma) Gomez, Delma Gomez, Cezar Garcia, Guillermo (Billy) Garcia Jr, Leticia, (husband Joe) Valles and Sofia Garcia.  She has eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.  

A Rosary will be said Wednesday, December 6th, 7 p.m. at the Shaffer Nichols Funeral Home, 1000 FM Hwy 1901 in McCamey, and mass celebration will be Thursday, December 7th at 2 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church 722 S Burleson Ave in McCamey.
