EILEEN HAYWOOD HAWKS
McCAMEY: Eileen Haywood Hawks passed away February 14, 2009 at Hospice House in Odessa, TX after the ordeal of a long hospital stay due to complications of a hip fracture on January 1, 2009. Her family was with her every day and night and in the last days she was also kept comfortable by the caring hands at Hospice House.
Eileen was born on August 10, 1924, in Mounds, Ok and lived there until the early 50's when she and her husband moved their small family to West Texas and McCamey where she lived until the 70's and from then until her death she lived in Odessa, TX.
She lived her life as an accomplished seamstress, creative artist, talented singer-performer, hairstylist, and the owner of a bookstore. She was a very active member of the community, a leader in the Girl Scouts and of the First Christian Church of McCamey, TX. She worked at many jobs in her life but her hardest and best work was being the best role model and mother to her 2 daughters and for that commitment no mother was ever more loved.
She was preceded in death, by her parents, a brother, three sisters and many close friends and family members. She is survived by 2 daughters, Elaine Haywood and Gail Haywood both of Odessa, TX, 1 sister Kay Glover of El Paso, TX and 1 brother and sister-in-law Ray and Frances Tuttle of Merkel, TX and many nieces and nephews and close family friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey.
