Edd Carpenter, 90, of Iraan, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at the Iraan General Hospital.
Edd was born on September 15, 1930, in Stephenville, Texas. He married the love of his life, Wanda Thurman on December 24, 1949. They moved to Iraan in 1953 where he began his career as a field gauger and pumper. Edd retired from Ashland Oil in 1991.
Edd loved being outdoors hunting, raising cows, and riding on his Kabota tractor. He and Wanda enjoyed working together in their front yard spending countless hours having beautiful shrubs and lush green grass.
Edd loved his family and spending time with them was most important.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rayford Carpenter and Brooks Carpenter; three sisters, Jimmie Dixon, Laverne Haggard, and Ernlee Ratliff.
Edd is survived by his wife of 70 years, Wanda Carpenter of Iraan; his children, Eddie Carpenter and his wife Sheryl of Centerville, Texas, Kathy Pearce and her husband John of Giddings, Texas, and Terry Carpenter and his wife Jana of Rockport, Texas; sister, LouAn Kelly of Burleson, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at the First Baptist Church in Iraan with Reverend Eric Bayer and Bobby Parmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Carpenter Family Cemetery at the family ranch in Crockett County. Services can be viewed live on the First Baptist Church
