On September 17, 1935 a baby girl was born in Iraan, Texas who would become a vital part of the greatest love story ever told. Douglas Ann Wilson Blue was born to Carl Douglas Wilson and Emma Lee Alice Strange and grew up on a ranch in Sheffield. She waited tables at her parents cafe, where she met Charles Edward Blue. They married on October 31, 1953 and set in motion a beautiful story full of love, happiness and adventures. They had two daughters, Vicki Darleene and Charlotte Ann. They shared a love and built a legacy that has touched countless people. Douglas Ann was a stay at home mom. She enjoyed playing poker and bingo, sewing for her family, cooking and taking care of grandbabies. Charles passed away on September 1, 2017. Their love, however, never died. She joined him on June 5, 2019, and now they are together in Heaven for eternity.
Douglas Ann was preceded in death by her adoring husband Charles, her parents, her son in law David Weaver, and two brothers and a sister in law Stanton Wilson and Charles Ferd and Sonia Wilson.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Weaver of Kempner, Texas and Charlotte Blue of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Becca and James “Boobie” Miles of Kempner, Texas; Robert “Bob” Blackman and Jody of Woodbury, Tennessee; Emily Thurman of Odessa, Texas; Callie Jean Thurman of Los Angeles, California and Charles Dustin Weaver and Ashlynne of Midland, Texas. She had fourteen great grandchildren: Chelsea Paige Weaver, Courtney Le’Ann Weaver, Chad Dylan Weaver, Carly and Jared Lovell, Caleb Douglas Blue, Cara Brin Blue, Briar James Blackman, Kathryn Michelle ”Katie” Blackman, Corben Jett Blue Garcia, Benjamin Cole Garcia, Jaycie Kerr, Cade Benson Garcia, Kaylee Nichole Garcia and Benigno Garcia III, and four great great grandchildren, Samantha Paige Lovell, David Robert Weaver,Jared Karson Lovell and Greyson Carter Garcia. She is also survived by her brother and his love, William Montgomery “Buz” Wilson and Mary of Mansfield, Texas and many nieces and nephews and a long time friend Ben Garcia Junior.
Graveside services will be held at the Crane Cemetery in Crane, Texas on Saturday, June 8 at 10 am under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
