Dorothy Janell Sanders entered heaven to be with her Heavenly Father on May 9th, 2012. She was born to John H. Sr. and Janie Rampey Ball on July 18th, 1930, in Fresno, CA.
She grew up in the Runnells County Community of Wilmeth and attended Mazeland School through the 8th grade at which time she transferred to Winters High School. In 1947 the Ball family moved to Junction, TX where Dorothy graduated from high school.
On July 13th, 1948 Dorothy married Harrel G. Sanders, the love of her life, in the College Street Church of Christ of Junction. They were lucky enough to share almost 64 years of marriage.
Harrel and Dorothy moved to San Antonio where Harrel attended barber school . After a short time in Junction, Dorothy and Harrel moved to Iraan in 1952 where Harrel barbered while they raised a family of four children as well as Harrel's brother, Bobby Dean who also lived with them.
In 1967 Dorothy and Harrel moved to San Angelo where Dorothy attended Angelo State University's School of Nursing. She was certified as a registered nurse in 1970. As an RN, she worked at hospitals in Midland, Odessa and Iraan. Both Dorothy and Harrel retired in Iraan.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Harrel G. Sanders, daughters Jan Bruce and husband Lynn and her children Jason Blanek and Carie Blanek-Woodall; Sherry Sanders and her children Jana Imler and Bethany Vicars, sons James Sanders, wife Betty and their children Chris and Justin; and Ross Sanders and his daughter Sara. She is also survived by brothers Tommy Dean Ball and John Henry Ball Jr. and wife Delores of Junction. Brother-in-law Tommy Sanders and niece Joyce Lesiker. Brother-in-law Bobby Dean Sanders, niece Valerie and nephew Kenny . Also surviving are 8 precious great-grandchildren.
Services for Dorothy will be held on Saturday, May 12th at 11.00 a.m. at the Baptist Church in Iraan with Church of Christ minister Clay Mason officiating.
