Doris Bond, 91, of Crane, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Parks Methodist Nursing Home, in Odessa, TX.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Crane Minister Ed Jenkins officiating.
Doris was born on January 18, 1930, in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Robert J. Collins and Agnes Collins and move to Crane during her seventh-grade year. She was very active in school and was a star tennis player, and Football Sweetheart. Doris graduated in 1948, then married Fred Bond on August 18, 1951, and they were married for 65 years.
Doris loved Crane and worked as the County and District Clerk for nine years. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with her many friends. She especially enjoyed her precious Pomeranians, Tony and Lucky.
Doris had one brother, Corporal Robert J. Collins II, that was killed in action during WWII. He was nineteen years old and received the Purple Heart.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred Bond, her son Gary Bond, and a brother.
