DOLAND F. "TIP" TIPTON
CRANE: Doland F. "Tip" Tipton, 85, of Crane passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Crane Memorial Hospital. He was born in Canadian, Oklahoma on June 17, 1923 and moved to Crane in 1951. He married Demolee Clayton in Crane on June 15, 1946.
Tip was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his injury received jumping behind enemy lines.
He served Crane County as a commissioner for 12 years before retiring. He, also, worked many years in the oilfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and one great grandchild.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, one son Lynn Tipton and his wife Linda of Euless, Texas, and two daughters, Brenda Guthrie and husband, Bruce, of Highland Village, Texas and Gena Norvell and husband, Gary, of Crane. Five grandchildren: Todd Seabourn and wife Lora Gay, Loraleigh Hoggard and husband, David, Crysti McDonald and husband, Tre, Gavin Norvell and wife Jennifer, and Tristen Warren and husband Zach. Thirteen great grandchildren: Hunter, Laney, and Jolie Seabourn, Harrison, Grant, Preston, and Gabriel Hoggard, Nikki Keeney, Jadence and Jeren McDonald, Robert and Ashley Norvell and Raven Warren. And one great great grandchild, Aubri Aguliar.
Graveside services will be at Crane Cemetery, Sunday, February 15, 2009, at 2:00 P.M. Services are entrusted to Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
