David Daniel Tiner, 91, of Crane, died Thursday, October 24, 2013, at the Crane Nursing Home in Crane, Texas.
He was born July 21, 1922, in Malakoff, Texas to Lone Ridge and Lillie Tiner. He married Margaret Crouch in Waco in 1949, which resulted in 58 years of marriage, which ended with her passing in 2007.
David served 4 years in the Navy during WWII as a Radarman on the USS Lawrence. Mr. Tiner proudly served his country from June 1942 until December 1945, when he was honorably discharged.
David earned a BA in 1949 and an MA in 1950 from Baylor University. He began a 37-year-long teaching career, beginning in Waco and ending in Crane with his retirement in 1987.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.
He is survived by his three children, Robin Tiner, Danella (Mrs. Ralph) Cockrell, and Tommy Tiner; grandchildren, Georgia Hayes, Brad Cockrell, and Erica Tiner; sister, Hazel Segrest; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends and former students.
Private funeral services are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane.
