Darrel W. Graves, 82, of McCamey, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2014, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Darrel was born on June 27, 1932, in San Angelo. He married Bettye Jane Perry, August 29, 1950. He had worked in the oilfield and had worked for, Southern Union Gas, Dowell Chemical, RR Kennedy, and was a Contract Pumper.
Darrel had Coached Baseball; went to the State Tournament twice, and Little League. Another passion of his was building and flying model airplanes.
He loved to work with wood and mom had him in his wood shop all the time working on something for her or someone else. He was always working on school projects for the kids or he would be out working on Charlieâs old Studdo Baker.
But, his love for his family was the pride of all his work. Everything he did was for them. He loved family reunions, especially the ones in Con Can.
Survivors include his wife Bettye Graves of McCamey; two sons, Charles Wayne Graves of Midkiff, and Perry Don Graves of San Angelo; a daughter, Cindy King of Maryville, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, Brad, Blake, Troy, Jeremie, Chad, Shella, and Zane; and 13 great grandchildren.
