Darlene was a devoted Christian. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Rankin for 60 years. She attended church regularly and was firm in her Christian beliefs.
Darlene owned and operated a hair salon in Rankin for many years. In January 1987 she began working as a Justice of the Peace for Upton County. She retired from her position in 2005. She enjoyed her job and the people she worked with so much.
Darlene was a fierce supporter of her children. She followed them across the states as they competed in rodeos. She loved to travel and watching her kids.
Her children remember her at their sporting events as the biggest “Red Devil” supporter there ever was. She never missed a single sporting event. She was so proud of her children and loved them endlessly.
Darlene loved all sports. She loved Pro Basketball and Football. Her friends and family remember how she liked to get on football boards for all the big games. The children say she was so dang lucky!
She loved gambling. She sure enjoyed the slot machines at Ruidoso and Hobbs. She was ready to go anytime someone mentioned it.
Her grandchildren remember her picking them up from school at lunch time and feeding them a 4-course meal, especially on game days. The kids laugh as they remember watching the Jerry Springer Show as they ate their lunch each day even though Dianne fussed at her for letting them watch it! Dianne said she would just laugh and keep doing it anyway.
The family has such wonderful memories of their mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved us all endlessly. Whether we were right or wrong, her undying love never failed us. She was our Matriarch, our Rock! She gave us strength and kept us together. She will be missed everyday for the rest of our lives.
We loved her dearly and deeply. Heaven received a feisty angel on March 17, 2020.
