Wilson Hardin Banner, also known as Cy Banner, Cy B., and Banner by many. His children called him Dad or Banner and his grandchildren called him Papa.
Cy would have reached his 86th Birthday on December 22nd this year. He was born on December 22, 1931 to Cyrus Wilson Banner and Jewel Goode Banner his loving parents who preceded him in death. Cy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Jo Knight Banner of Sheffield, Texas and his three Children, Maggie Jewel Banner Kerr, of San Angelo, William Cy âChicoâ Banner and wife Cynthia, of Terrell County and Jesse Lee Banner and wife Lori, of Terrell County. Cy had six grandchildren, Edward Hudson âWardâ Kerr, III, Banner Joe Kerr, Katlyn Evonne Banner, Kaycee Ann Banner, Jesse Cole Banner and Wyatt Hardin Banner. Cy was also preceded in death by his Son-in-Law, Edward Hudson Kerr, II.
Cy was born in Del Rio, Texas and lived on the Pecos River in Terrell County as a rancher for all his life. He attended several Catholic Schools around Texas while growing up and graduated from Sanderson High School. In 1952 Cy joined the U.S. ARMY during the Korean War. He served his country honorably for 2 years in the 1st ARMY Artillery and then came back to Terrell County to ranch and raise his family.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at the Sheffield Cemetery with Don Jackson officiating. Pallbearers will be Ward Kerr-Active Duty Military, Banner Joe Kerr, Cole Banner, Wyatt Banner, Mont Cravens, and Clay Cravens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a favorite charity, or to Alzheimerâs research.
