Curtis Austin Capps passed after a long illness on February 6, 2019, in Odessa, TX. He was born on August 17, 1947, in Belen, NM. He was preceded in death by his father Austin Bailey Capps, his sons Kirk Capps, Kenneth Capps and Kevin Capps.
He is survived by his mother Dona Marie Capps Holliday of Midland, TX; daughter Cheryl Capps of Bandera, TX; son and wife Curt and Alicia Capps of San Antonio, TX; 4 grandsons Ehron Capps and Ayden Capps of Austin, TX, Jared Capps of McCamey, TX, and Brandon Browning of Boerne, TX. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Darrell Capps of Des Moines, IA, Randall Capps of Midland, TX, and Bryan Capps of Plano, TX; 3 sisters Linda Capps Langner of Vera Cruz, Mexico, Doreen Capps Inman of Alamogordo, NM and Colleen Capps Roybal of Las Vegas, NV; plus, a multitude of nieces and nephews.
He served his country after high school in the US Navy and ran U-Boats up and down the rivers of Vietnam to take Marines to their missions. After the service he worked as a truck driver/dispatcher, oil field related jobs, blackjack dealer and most recently he lived his lifelong dream as a rancher in McCamey, TX.
Private services will be held at a later date. Services are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
