A True Texas Cowboy
Christopher Scott Lopez, at the age of 53, was peacefully called home early in the morning on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Chris was born on June 16, 1970, in Crane, Texas.
Chris was a larger than life presence. He was a cowboy to his core. Throughout his years he loved to ride horses and bulls, and fell in love with the western lifestyle. Also his thirst for life was visible in every era that he lived and those include not only being a ranch hand hard working cowboy, but a Harley riding biker, law-abiding outlaw, most importantly a loving husband, father and friend to countless people who loved him. To know him was to love him and we do. He had a vibrant, happy heart that was as visible and alive as he was.
Even during his toughest era, the diagnosis and progression of MS, he managed to remain positive and upbeat. He could often be found cruising the streets on his scooter, visiting and socializing with friends and loved ones.
Chris had a nick-name for everyone he knew and was known by many as a jokester, a loyal friend and a shoulder to lean on. He was known as “Dad” by wife, Melody, son, Ryan and daughter in law, Dianna. He was “Son” to his mother, MaryAnne and father, Mike. Chris was known as “My Muchacho” to his grandmother, Lucy. He was “Brother” to Dwayne, Charity, Chasity (Cody) and Scarlett (Derick). He was known as “Nephew” to many uncles and aunts and known as “Unc” to Jonathan, Alfred, Josie, Taylor, Karlie, Gabby, Michael, Savannah, Riley and Radley. He was known as “Brother in Law” to Martha. He was “Dingy” to Lucas and “Poppy” to Eviee.
“If you see me gettin’ smaller, I’m leavin’, don’t be grievin’, just gotta get away from here. If you see me gettin’ smaller, don’t worry, I'm in no hurry, I’ve got the right to disappear.” ~ Waylon Jennings
