Cheryl Roberts

A West Texas wildflower known as Cheryl Roberts was plucked from the earth the evening of October 16th as the sun set on her last golden horizon. She was born to her loving parents Clarence and Pauline Foss in Glasgow Montana in 1950. Her pop worked hard in the oil fields of Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. She shared this nomadic childhood with her baby brother Dale. Because of this the two became close and loyal siblings and friends. They finally settled in the glacial wild beauty of Anchorage Alaska in 1959. Cheryl spent the rest of her childhood in Alaska until 1967 where she set out on a new life adventure which led her all the way to Texas and straight into motherhood. Becoming a mother of her first two babies Michael and Michelle, she made it her mission to ensure their safety and security.

She became an LVN and then an RN on Jan 1, 1977. It was here and then that she found her true calling as a healer and caretaker to what would be countless human beings. She was a beacon of care and empathy. She worked tirelessly and sacrificed much of her time in dedication and devotion to her craft. She was notorious for her sharp intellect and in her wake, she left a legacy of hope, encouragement, comradery, and valuable lessons not only of nursing and hospital care, but also in how to be a fair and kind person. For many she was a mentor and a friend.

In 1979 Cheryl met a warm-hearted deputy with a rascally sense of humor, named Ron. This new love brought them Ron’s daughter Natalie and a new baby girl Leana. With many decades of both laughter and tears, tough times and sweet memories, their union wove together a beautiful tapestry of two families coming together. They became affectionately known as Mimi and Papa. She loved spending time with her family and enjoying a good glass of wine. She wanted most of all for those she loved to be happy and healthy, and she gave everything she had to make sure this happened. She enriched our lives and was the brightest light to anyone who was lucky enough to know her.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her wonderful parents Clarence and Pauline Foss, her dear son Michael Hoffman, and her beloved husband Ronald Roberts. She is survived by her brother Dale Foss, and her daughters Michelle Glenn, Natalie Johnson, and Leana Kay. As well as her seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Not a day will go by we won’t think about our beloved Mimi, and smile or sigh. She was our problem solver, our healer, and our safe haven. A lover, a mother, a mimi, and the best of friends, her absence will be strongly felt by all who loved and knew her.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Rankin Cemetery Pavilion with Pastor John Zamudio officiating.   The family would like to invite family and friends to join them at the home of Wayne and Rose Allmon after the services for a time of fellowship and food.
