Carolyn Jane Buchanan Shankle, 78, of Rankin, passed away on Monday, May 04, 2015, at the Stanton Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Rankin with Reverends Randy Bush and Troy Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Rankin Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Carolyn was born on May 13, 1936, in Coleman, Texas to William (Bill) and Janie Buchanan. She attended schools in San Angelo and Iraan and attended beauty school in San Angelo. Carolyn married Ronnie Shankle June 27, 1958.
She owned and operated the Beauty Cottage and was a member of First Baptist Church in Rankin for 51 years. Carolyn was a member of the Genealogical Society, 4H leader, Boy Scout Council, Rankin Chamber of Commerce, and was a member of the Barbados cook-off committee. Carolyn loved her grandkids, as well as to garden, read, do crafts, and play dominoes.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ronnie in August of 2006.
Survivors include her daughter, Ronda Ireton and husband Danny of Stanton;
son, Philip Shankle and his wife Linda of McCamey; Grandchildren Brandon Ireton of San Angelo, Matthew Ireton of Levelland, Jonathan Ireton of Fort Worth, Philip Shankle Jr., Tiffany Shankle, both of Midland;
Great grandchildren Hailyn Ireton, Jack Ireton, Madee Shankle;
Special granddaughters Josephine Black, Jaden Ibarra;
Siblings, Willie Daniel of Rankin, Terrie Calhoun of Brownwood, Jackie Buchanan of Quinlan, and Irene May of Sanford, Florida.
