CAROLYN (DUKE) ANDREW
MCCAMEY - Carolyn Andrew, of Lordsburg, New Mexico and formerly of McCamey, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 after suffering a brain aneurysm while visiting family in San Antonio. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday, February 6, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. A celebration of her life led by her nephew Rev. Clay Andrew from LaGrande, Oregon is scheduled on Monday, February 7, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in McCamey, Texas.
Carolyn was awesome! Awesome in her dedication and care for her husband, Jack. Carolyn was awesome in her love of friends and animals, especially any sad looking pet needing shelter and a place to be loved. Awesome in her skills and ability to achieve. Carolyn was awesome in her ability to laugh, make all around laugh and enjoy life. Awesome in her ability to look forward with enthusiasm and excitement and to love people! Carolyn was just awesome!
Carolyn was born September 23, 1951 and she graduated from McCamey High School in 1970. She and Jack married February 4, 1971 and celebrated 40 years of being best friends last Friday. Carolyn worked in the medical field for 25 years and was the Clinical Director of the largest clinical laboratory in New Mexico. She and Jack reveled in their 11 years of living their dream as they "RVed" across the USA and Mexico. They found fun and interesting "careers" in many locations and made friends at every stop. For the last 4 years Jack and Carolyn have lived in Lordsburg, NM where Carolyn was the manager of a travel center on I-10.
Carolyn is survived by innumerable friends and family who thank God for having known her. Included in those who mourn her loss are her husband Jack Andrew; son Leland Andrew and wife Tara; daughter Dawn Fay; mother Aline Duke; mother-in-law Nadine Andrew; sister Janet Jordan and husband David; brother Billy Duke and wife Patricia; brother-in-law Glenn Andrew and wife Leta; grandchildren Heath Andrew, Trey Chavez and wife Consuela, Chris Chavez and wife Annette, Patrick Chavez, and Caedan Andrew, River Andrew and Forrest Andrew. Carolyn and Jack have great grandchildren, Shawn, Ava and Zachery and are excitedly awaiting the arrival of Rhyleigh Carolyn in May.
Carolyn was preceeded in death by her beloved brother Bobby Duke, her very special father-in law Jack Andrew, Sr, and her granddaughter Chrystyna Chavez.
