Bob Hess, 75 of Crane, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 25, 2011 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Crane with Reverend Tommy Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bud Taylor, Lynn Till, David Brewer, Kyle Hess, James Fairchild, Martin Kalb, Mickey Caponiti, Steve Ladyman and Scott Charleson.
Bob was a huge supporter of Crane High School's athletic, music and academic programs. He was in his element when restoring tractors, farm equipment and spending time at the family farm. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years Robbie Hess on Aug. 30, 2002; his parents CJ and Eva Ellen Hess; and his sister Jo Ann Bell. He is survived by his three children, Sherrill Roberts and husband Steve of Friendswood, TX, Rusty Hess and wife Freddie of Odessa, TX and son Darrell Hess and wife Jo of Webster, TX; sisters Charlotte Gross and husband Tex of Beaver, OK, Marilyn Kelton and husband Carroll of Lubbock, TX and brother Cecil Hess and wife Rose of Himeston, LA; sister-in-law Jewell Brewer and husband Dale of Odessa, TX and Phyllis Ladyman of Chickasha, OK; his grandchildren Danielle Hess Boyles and husband Ian of Big Spring, TX, Kyle Hess of Big Spring, TX, Derick Hess of Soccoro, NM and Tyler Hess of Crane, TX, numerous nieces and nephews, and everyone that knew him as "Daddy Bob".
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent in Bob's name to the hospice of your choice or the American Cancer Society.
