CRANE: Bernice E. Shipman, 92 of Crane, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Crane Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 9am until 8pm at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane with family receiving friends from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Crane with Reverend Tommy Parker and Dr. Dennis Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Bernice was born on December 1, 1918 in Lamar County, Texas. She married Max Shipman on March 21, 1936 in Lamar County. She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Crane. Bernice was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Max on March 8, 1998; and her son, Sammy on March 10, 2009.
Bernice is survived by her son, Jimmy Shipman and his wife Sandy of Crane; her daughter-in-law, Jo Shipman of Odessa; a sister, Loneta Stewart Nutt of Broken Arrow, OK; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
