Bennie Joe Morrison, 83 of Crane, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning October 31, 2018, in Crane.
Bennie Joe was born on July 19, 1935, in Gorman, Texas to James Fred and Tommie Lea Morrison. He graduated in 1954 from Albany High School in Albany, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. He moved to Crane in 1956 and went to work for Texas-New Mexico Pipeline. He met the love of his life, Shirley Wallender, and they married on July 2, 1959.
Bennie Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scurry # 706. He served on the Crane ISD School Board for 14 years until he and Shirley moved to Big Spring, Texas and later to Ira, Texas. He worked in the oil
field all his life, but his favorite past time was hunting, fishing and enjoying his family.
Bennie Joe was preceded in death by his father, James Fred Morrison; mother, Tommie Lea Morrison; sisters, Alma Kathryn Parrish, Myrtle Cogburn, Ruth Hudman, and Sybil Ann Reynolds; brothers, Thomas Eugene Morrison, Billy Ray Morrison, Robert Alfred Morrison, James Oran Morrison, and Fred Arthur Morrison.
Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley; sons, Bennie Joe Morrison Jr. and wife Becky, Gary Dean Morrison and wife Kristee; special nephew, Mark Angel who was like a son; sister, Mary Lou Hearne; Grandchildren, Jana Rae Barriga, Jeremy Morrison, Justin Morrison, Caleb Morrison, Caylee Morrison and two special nephews, Zackary Angel and Remington Angel; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Triston.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Crane County Cemetery with Reverend David Evans officiating.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
