Barbara J. Register, 75, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Midland Memorial Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Odessa with Reverend Don Palmer officiating. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Barbara was born on June 24, 1938, in Archer City, Texas. She had worked for Texas Instruments for over 10 years. Barbara served on the Ector County Sherriff's Departments reserve unit for 11 years, and was honored with receiving the Tom Almond award. She also worked for the Texas Youth Commission in Sheffield for 11 years.
Barbara enjoyed serving as a volunteer at the Iraan General Hospital Auxiliary, and spending time helping at the Awana Club. She loved to go fishing when she had the opportunity; however the most important thing to her was taking care of her family. She was a member of the Mother Holmes Baptist Church in Sheffield.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Hazel Berryman; her husband, Donald Ray Register; a brother, George Berryman; and her sister, Mary Berryman.
Survivors include three sons, Donnie Ray Register of Katy, Ronnie Ray Register of Midland, and Terry Lee Register and his wife Katherine of Odessa; one brother, Carl Berryman of Altus, OK; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
