Arturo Payan Franco

CRANE: Arturo "LaRana" Payan Franco, 59 of Crane, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at his residence in Crane.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Chapel in Crane. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane with Father Laurent Mvondo officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.

Arturo was born on April 30, 1951 in Mexico. He married Frances Montes on July 28, 1971 in McCamey, Texas. Arturo had lived in Crane since 1983. He was a self-employed dump truck driver; and a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesus Franco; his brother, Alfredo Franco; and a sister, Maria DeLaLuz Lara.

Arturo is survived by his loving wife, Frances Franco of Crane; his three sons, Arturo Franco Jr. and his wife Diana of Crane, Armando Franco and his wife Mary of Odessa, and Alfredo Franco, of Crane; two daughters, Armida Melendez and her husband Robert of Midland, and Edelmira Tarin and her husband Willie of Crane; his mother, Josefina Franco of Midland; three brothers, Silvino Franco, Ramiro Franco, and Jesus Manuel Franco, all of Midland; a sister, Griselda Roman of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
