Anthony Cornelius "Tony" Staggs

Anthony Cornelius “Tony” Staggs, 74, of Crane, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Tony was born on March 31, 1947, in Centerville, Tennessee. He married the love of his life, June Lanning on June 27, 1979.

Tony worked in the oilfield on rigs since he was 16 years old. He had a love for racing, working on cars and NASCAR. He often talked about the “good ol days”, and spending many hours playing dominos with his late friend Jack Lane.

Tony enjoyed going to the lake every summer with his family and spending time with kids and grandkids. He loved his family above all, they were his everything along with his dog, Minnie.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and Bill Staggs, and sister, Brenda Staggs Johnson.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, June Staggs; his daughters, Dolly Staggs, Toni Staggs, Kathy Ortiz and her husband Catarino, and Leslie Garcia and her husband Freddy, all of Crane; sisters, Pat Taylor of Paducah, Wanda Staggs of Odessa, and Lori McCaleb of Spring; grandkids, Crissy Staggs, Chelsea Rendon, Brittany Tarin, Melissa Carlile, Jayla Ortiz, Michael Holliman, Junella Garcia, Belinda Ortiz, Thomas Ortiz, Brandon Brents, Savannah Garcia, Diego Garcia, and Lexi Garcia; 18 great grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Crane. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Savannah Garcia, Brandon Brents, Thomas Staggs, Diego Garcia, Michael Holliman, Chuy Rendon, Catarino Ortiz, and Freddy Garcia.
