On January 10, 2024, the world lost an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. The Lord called Alta Ruth McDonald home.
Alta was born in Uvalde, Texas, to Lynn and Vina Mae McAden on March 4, 1943. Most of her youth was spent in Rankin. Alta was in the Rankin High School band where she was a twirlier. Alta married her high school sweetheart James McDonald and was married for 57 years. They moved to Lubbock where she and James had their son Trevor and then moved to Crane where they had their daughter Tiffany. James and Alta moved back to Rankin in 2015. She taught school in Ralls, Odessa, Imperial, and Crane, where she finally retired in 2002. Alta enjoyed reading, word searches, watching football and of course, Hallmark Christmas movies.
Alta is preceded in death by husband James Wesley McDonald, her parents Lynn and Vina Mae McAden, her brother, Bobby McAden and his wife, Darlene, sister-in-law, Linda Nicholson and her husband Dean and daughter-in-law Crysti McDonald.
Alta is survived by her son Trevor, her daughter Tiffany and husband Juan, sister, Shirley McAden, and sister Judy Marshall and her husband, Phil, her niece, Kim Nicholson and nephew, James Nicholson and his wife Angela, nephew, Tommy McAden and his wife Lisa, nephew J. B. Mcaden and his wife Rachel, nephew Spencer Marshall and his wife Mary Beth and nephew Mathew Marshall. She had 8 grandchildren, Nikki Agular, Jadence Palacios and her husband Keen, Jeren McDonald, Indalecio Duran and his wife Isabel, Avriana Duran, Nano, Nico and Bella Duran. She also had 6 great-grandchildren, Aubri, Hayli, and landri Agular, Jupiter Palacios, Kingston Vasquez and Lilly Duran. She also had several great nieces and nephews.
The viewing will be held at Shaffer Nichols Funeral Home in Crane on January 18, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm. The funeral will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Rankin on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 2pm. Burial will follow at the Rankin Pavilion at the Rankin cemetery.
